BUNGALOW REDESIGNS
|
These images are taken from two projects during which we fundamentally redesigned bungalow properties from the floor plan upwards and carried out the work through to completion.
In the first property the focus was to create a spacious lounge area, which was achieved by the relocation of several internal walls. The size of the room is emphasised well by the natural wood floor, which was repaired, sanded and varnished. A new kitchen and bathroom to the customer's wishes were fitted, and the property was decorated simply, giving a clean, modern feel.
The latter property utilises large amounts of carpentry in reclaimed timber and hardwoods, with a complete set of handmade pine doors, and some unusual uses of wooden features which double as structural components and items to focus the eye. Examples shown here include uncut natural Cornish Dwarf Oak trunks as roof support posts, and the highly individual worktop edging, which is a hand shaped laminate construction of European Birch ply, framing a white marble surface. Together with the uneven walls, rounded window reveals and simple whitewash finish on the walls, the many timber features give this south facing property a surprising 'provence' feel.
